Mike, I never, ever thought I'd have to be doing one of these for you. So many people are missing you so bad right now. Mom is being strong, but Dad is so crushed, I worry about him. Billy has really stepped up and taken care of business, you'd be so proud of him and Tammy. Leia is with your parents and Lace and the two of them are getting used to each other! I had to move Leia's food b/c Lace ate it when I had her bowl on the floor. That's a dog for ya, I guess.

I swear I felt you with me today as I drove behind your body from the coroner's office. Seeing you in there was so surreal. Man, you are tall! You know I always loved that about you.

Both Billy and I have talked to the Family Christian Center and Pastor Jim will be doing the services. Your dad wants a priest to be there as well for the burial to bless the ground.

We find out tomorrow if we are having an open casket, but the funeral guy told me probably. Honey, I hope so b/c your Dad wants to kiss you goodbye. Mom says she has you always in her heart.

Looking at Billy today at the funeral home, I saw so much of you in him. The eyes, the expressions, the love for family. He is doing so good for you, Mike, as are many other people. We have gotten calls and emails about donations and condolences from people all over the country.

I will keep my promise, Mike, I will help take care of things. I made sure you made it to the funeral home alright, and I have spent most of my waking moments with your parents. We will be alright. Sad, but knowing that now you are with Jesus, and how spellbinding that must be.

Thank you for coming to your Mom and Dad. The message to your Mom was especially poignant and helpful to everyone.

We love you, Mike!

Mike was a 1992 graduate of Gavit High School. As a child, he was part of Woodmar and Irving Park baseball leagues. As an adult, he was a coach of girls' basketball for Griffith and AAU. He loved music, esp. playing guitar. He was a loyal friend and gave all of himself to everyone. He is sorely missed by all who knew him.

Cause of death:
Pulmonary Embolism
(Blood clot in the lung)
