Karen K. Jacobs, 66, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery – Preston Township, rural Akron, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Karen Kay Bridgford was born April 15, 1951 in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Robert Dale and Gladys Mae (Campbell) Bridgford. She was raised in Le Mars and attended school at Gehlen Catholic.
Following her schooling, she worked as a waitress at the Truck Stop and Lally’s Eastside in Le Mars.
She was united in marriage to Orlan “Olie” Jacobs on October 12, 1973 in Elk Point, South Dakota. Early on, they made their home in Ireton, Iowa, where Karen stayed home to raise her family. In 1994, they moved to Le Mars after Olie’s retirement. After moving, she worked part time at Lally’s Eastside.
Through the years, Karen enjoyed shopping and having coffee at Lally’s. But most of all, she loved the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of over 44 years, Orlan of Le Mars; children: Jamie Jacobs of Monroe, Iowa, Tonya (Devon) Wiig of Correctionville, IA, Shane Jacobs of Sioux City, IA, and Kelly (Karen) Jacobs of Sioux City, IA; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; her sisters: Marilyn (Don) Marx of Remsen, IA, and Sandy Wiig (fiancé, Mike Durr) of Le Mars, IA; her brother: John (Vikki) Bridgford of Le Mars, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Gladys Bridgford; her father and mother in law: Gert and Dena Jacobs; and her brother and sister in law: Stan and LeJoyce Jacobs.
