Son of Anthony and Marh Albrecht, brother to Ludwig.
Alois Albrecht, shot Robert Stocks of Los Posas. The following day he came to town and surrendered himself to the Sheriff. Both were neighbors and good friends. Albrecht labored under the delusion that Robert Stocks was and had been for some time trying to poison himself and his brother Ludwig Albrecht by adding strychnine to water, that while he was under the influence of this insane hallucination he went to Stocks house and in the presence of the father, sister and brother of Stocks reproached him for trying to poison him. He was expostulated with by the father and sister, although they thought that Albrech was not in his right mind, could not believe he would commit any violent act. Stokes left the house to water his horse team and while leading the horses Albrecht stepped up and caught Stocks by the coat collar and shot him in the right breast. Albrecht went to the house and told what he had done. He was discharged after the attack by the Sheriff where bail was paid for the sum of $2,000 to come back the following week for inquest. Instead Alois came to the Free Press building where his counsel Judge SA Sheppard had his offices and inquired of the printers for the Judge. Being informed that he had not come to his office, the man remained, walking up and down the hallway until nearly 9ocklock. When just as Judge Sheppard was entering the door below, he deliberately lay down, placed his head on a roll of matting, took a small pistol in both hands and shot himself exactly in the middle of the forehead. He had killed himself with a shot to his head with a pistol to his forehead. So firmly did he hold the weapon against his head, that not a single powder burn appeared on the skin around the deadly wound. Bullet, powder and the compress air all entered the brain, of course producing death almost instantly. He was said to be insane for a long time.
His brother Ludwig Albrecht was arrested as an accessory to the first shooting. Both brothers had the same delusion of poisoning. There was discrepancy about Ludwig being present when Alois shot Stokes, but he did get the pistol for his brother.
