Carla Lang was born in Edewecht, Germany, to Willie and Alice (Carle) Grethe. Her father was in the German Army during World War II. He was a prisoner of war in Africa from 1944 until 1948.
Her German husband and Carla came to the US in 1961. After she and her husband parted, Carla purchased Westside Meats in Mobridge, SD. In 2016, fire destroyed the business. It was rebuilt and about to open when fire again raged. Determination and a strong will, it was rebuilt this time according to Carla's design.
She is survived by 2 sons Tom and Chris both of Mobridge, both work at Westside Meats; Grandson Brett; and brother Karl.
