Edwin Stanton "Stan" Warren was born in Omaha, Nebraska on November 19, 1930 to parents Wallie and Ruth Warren. He passed away in Reno, Nevada on October 5, 2017. He was 86 years old.

Stan was a Korean War Veteran serving on the Aircraft Carrier, U.S.S. Boxer, CV21. As graduate of the Navy's Parachute Packing & Jump School, he provided pilots and crewmembers with survival gear as well as the breathing oxygen they may need in flight. After the Navy he went to work for the telephone company as a telephone installer. He proceeded through numerous job assignments becoming Nevada Bell's Director of External Affairs and represented the company in legislative matters affecting Nevada Bell at the State Legislature in Carson City and congressional matters pending in Washington D.C.

After retiring from Nevada Bell he opened his own Legislative Consulting Business and represented some of the State's major public utilities in electric power, natural gas, water, communications and the pipeline company bringing fuels to the Reno-Sparks areas from California. He also represented (on a probono basis) the Nevada Classic Car Owners Assoc.

Stan served on a number of committees, study groups and one foundation at the pleasure of then Governors Laxalt, O'Callaghan, Bryan and Miller. He was the Past President of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the Carson City Rotary Club, Charter Member and Past President of the Reno-South Rotary Club, and a Director of the Nevada Taxpayers Assoc. and was a board member of the Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce where he chaired its "Maverick" Committee that welcomed new companies and businesses to the Reno-Sparks area for two years.

Stan was one of the founding fathers of the National Automobile Museum (The Harrah's Collection) in Reno. He was a member of the Board of Trustees at Saint Mary's Hospital for 13 years and was a long time member of the Prospectors Club in Reno.

He married the love of his life, Ruth Johnson, in 1952, whom he met in the second grade in school. They had four children: Carol, Gene, Mike and Nancy. His other love in life was old cars. As a teenager he was a "Hot Rodder" who built old Ford Roadsters to go fast at the dry lakes. He later restored classic cars - finishing with a '57 Ford Thunder Bird. He and Ruth were active members of the local area's "T" Bird Club.

Stan was preceded in death by his father, Wallie Warren and stepmother, Ethel; his mother, Ruth Martin, and stepfather, Tom. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of 64 years and their children: Carol (Bob) Atkinson, Gene (Nancy) Warren, Mike (Heidi) Warren and Nancy (Mark) Kennedy; his grandchildren: Grae and Gency Warren, Derrick Atkinson, and Allan and Mitchell Warren. He is also survived by his sister, Christy (Neil) Medina.

Memorial Services will be held at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel at 2700 N. Virginia Street, Reno on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 10:00 am. Stan asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made in his name to the National Automobile Museum or to the charity of your choice.
