Floyd East, Jr., 48 passed away October 9, 2017 in Lubbock, TX. Floyd is preceded in death by his parents Gloria and Floyd, Sr. and nephew Aaron. He is survived by his wife Carmen and daughters Ana and Monica; his siblings Lorenzo Francisco, Gloria and Juana; nieces and nephews Luis, Lorenzo Jr., Charlie, Robbie and Alyssa and many friends and extended family. Floyd will be remembered for his generous spirit, kindness, warped sense of humor and his love and devotion for his family. Floyd graduated from Andress High School (1988), received an Associate's Degree in Microcomputer Technology (2001) and graduated from the EPCC Law Enforcement Training Academy (2016). He served as a Texas Tech University Police Officer in Lubbock, TX. Pallbearers will be Charlie Roberts III, Sharon Escarciga, William Rooslet, Eric Blackshire, Lorenzo Arvizo Jr., Robbie Bryfogle, Lorenzo Francisco Arvizo, and Adrian A. Andrade. Honorary pallbearers: Officer Jennifer Olivas, Lincoln Belt, and Luis Romero. A memorial service will take place at the Abraham Chavez Theater on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 12 pm. Services under the direction of Hillcrest Funeral Home - Carolina. 915-598-3332

Officer Floyd East was shot and killed in the line of duty on Oct. 9, 2017, at Texas Tech Police Headquarters in Lubbock, Texas. In line with his wishes, the ashes of Officer East were placed in an Eternal Reef ball and buried in the Atlantic Ocean, 8 miles off the coast of St. Augustine, Florida.
