Lewis “Sam” Wheeler, 76, of McElhattan, passed away Oct. 8, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born Oct. 15, 1940 in Lock Haven to Lewis L. Wheeler and Mildred G. McKibben Knarr.
Sam was a graduate of the Lock Haven High School and had attended trade school specializing in pipe fitting.
He had worked at the former Hammermill/ International Paper plant as supervisor of the pipefitting department, retiring after 40-plus years.
He was Methodist by faith.
Sam was a member of the Avis American Legion and Lock Haven Moose, and life member of Wayne Township Fire Company. He routinely visited Johnson’s Garage. He loved fishing, camping and was an avid Penn State fan. He loved his pet dog Molly and pet cat Bella.
Sam was survived by his wife, four sons, grand children, great-grandchildren and a nephew.
Funeral services for Lewis “Sam” Wheeler were at the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home & Cremations Services, LLC, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Officiating was Pastor Dave McElwee of the McElhattan United Methodist Church. Interment was at the convenience of the family in the Linwood Cemetery.
