Joe was born February 1, 1925 in Lindsay, Texas to the late Fred Raymond Hamilton and Armeda Pauline (Evans) Hamilton. He married Joyce Hazel Matthews on July 30, 1942 in Gainesville, Texas. Mr. Hamilton served in the Army during WWII. When he returned home he earned his college degree and became a department head superintendent for the City of Gainesville from 1951 until he retired in 1986. In his spare time his passions were painting, trading vehicles and most of all, taking care of his loving wife and family.
Survivors include his son, Billy Joe Hamilton; daughter, Betty Joe Kyle and son-in-law, Dustin Allen Kyle; grandchildren, Sherree Weaver, Terri Crisp, Brenda Sampson, Teresa Murry, Billy Joe Hamilton, Jr., Bobbie Dowell, Hazel Hamilton, Kaci Kyle, Klayton Kyle, and Nicole Johnson; fourteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Joyce Hazel (Matthews) Hamilton; brothers, Raymond Paul Hamilton, William (Bill) Alvin Hamilton; sister, Wanda Lee (Hamilton) Coleman; daughter, Linda Sue (Hamilton) Murry; son, Jimmy Edward Hamilton; granddaughter, Tarjia Beaver and grandsons, Joe Beaver and Jimmy Joe Hamilton.
