Outdoor portrait of 405465 Pilot Officer (PO) Kenneth Moreton, RAAF, of Toowoomba, Qld. A school teacher in civilian life, PO Moreton enlisted on 31 March 1941. On 29 January 1944, whilst attached to 57 Squadron, RAF, PO Moreton was killed on operations over Germany. He was aged 22. PO Moreton was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC), gazetted in London 1 June 1945, for 'skill and courage on numerous operational missions'. The award was presented to his father, Alexander Moreton.
