Edward Sharp (Ned) Ables died Oct. 5, 2017, while a resident of the Brentwood Healthcare facility in Paris, Texas.

He became ill in 2014 at 77 while living in the family homeplace 643 North Main.

Ned was born March 12, 1937, at the Sanitarium of Paris, the second son of Christine Sharp and Edward W. Abeles. The attending physician was Dr. D. S. Hammond, a family relative.

Ned is survived by two brothers. The older is Dan Davis Abeles, a resident of the Clarksville Nursing Home, and Corneil Abeles of Atlanta, Texas. The fourth and youngest brother Victor Norris Abeles, died in 2012 at age 62.

Edward Sharp Ables was the grandson on his mother Christine's side of Grady and Pearl Hindman Sharp of Paris and on his father Edward William's side of Dr. J. Dan and Henrietta E. Oakes Abels of Grant, Oklahoma.

Following Paris High School graduation in 1955 and a year at Paris Junior College, Ned earned a degree in industrial engineering from East Texas State University in 1960. He earned a US Civil Service Commission Industrial Engineering Technician GS 11 rating in 1964. He was a longtime employee of Texas Instruments and had made his home in Richardson for many years. He was a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and the United States Naval Reserve as an Electronics Technician Third Class 1961-63.

A graveside funeral service of spoken memories will be held Tuesday, Oct. 10, at the chapel in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.
