Syms was a 15 year old cabin boy with Charles Darwin on the famous discovery voyage of the Vessel "HMS Beagle".

Covington was impressed by what he saw of Australia and emigrated in 1840. He moved with his family to Pambula by 1854 where he built a brick and stone building in 1857 which contained the town post office, a store, and a pub called the Forest Oak Inn. [Contributor: Dr. J The Seeker (47214870) ]
