Janet Joyce Ollerton Stratton
1922 - 2017

Early Life: Janet was born August 1, 1922, in Tempe Arizona, to Preston Ollerton and Zina Guthrie Ollerton, the second of four children. They were raised on a ranch, which she loved, outside of Tempe. As a young girl, Janet enjoyed playing with her brothers and was especially delighted when, for her 5th birthday, her parents gave her an often requested gift of a baby sister named Shirley.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: Following high school graduation, Janet left Arizona to attend college at Brigham Young University. While there, she earned a degree in elementary education but more importantly, she met and fell in love with her eternal companion, Franklin K. "Frank" Stratton. On December 27, 1943, they were sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Frank and Janet established their home in Orem, Utah. There they farmed, taught school and raised their wonderful children. Janet was a devoted homemaker and an excellent housekeeper, cook and seamstress. As a loyal member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many positions. The highlight of her church service was as a missionary with her husband in Madrid, Spain. She was also active in the community, working as a librarian and helping to design and build the library at Sharon Elementary School in Orem. Janet loved her pets, her doll collection, her flower garden, and to read, especially children's books. Frank and Janet created a strong family unit and provided countless opportunities for their family to get together and enjoy one another and the outdoors. Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Janet Joyce Ollerton Stratton passed away October 3, 2017. She was 95.
