DECATUR -- Melinda Irene Long, 74, died Sunday June 3, 2001, at her residence.
She retired from the Hamilton County Health Department after 19 years and was a member since 1958 of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Long.
She is survived by a son, Robert Stanley Long of Chattanooga; daughters, Freda Turvey of Cisco, Ga., Amy McKissick of Carthage, Tenn., and Ellen Gant of Decatur; brothers, Sylvester Johnston of Ann Arbor, Mich., Charlie Johnston of Chattanooga; sisters, Geraldine Davis of Winter Haven, Fla., and Iva Sue Johnston of Englewood, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the West Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Don Apperson officiating.
Interment will be in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens in Trenton, Ga.
The family will receive friends today from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time at the West Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
