Walter E Bartlett, aged 89, of West Creek, was a life time resident of West Creek and New Gretna. He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving aboard an aircraft carrier toward the end of WWII and afterward.

He was a life-time member of the Eagleswood Volunteeer Fire Company. He served in various community including the school board and was instrumental in founding the Eagleswood Elementary School & was the Civil Defense director during the "Cold War" period

His was self-employed in the building materials, swimming pool, & masonry contracting business. Walter was a private pilot allowing him many trips around the country & to the Bahamas. Walter saw the need for a local airport and founded Eagles Nest Airport In West Creek NJ. Walter was also a lifetime member of the Southern Ocean Rotary where he achieved perfect attendance.

He is survived by: his wife Georgine L. (Mathis) Bartlett; sons Edward W (Anna)., Lawrence R, (Diane) James H. and daughter, Patricia G. Courtney (Richard), 12 grandchildren & 35 great -grandchildren.

Services were arranged by Brian Maxwell, NJ Lic. #3834 at Calvary Baptist Church of Little Egg Harbor, NJ. Burial of his cremains will take place at a later date.
