Calvin Heath Evans was born in Madera, California on August 29th, 1944 to Viola Evans and Mailou James Reed. "Pete", as he was affectionately called by friends and family alike, attended Sherman Elementary, Lincoln Jr. High, and Madera Union High School where he was active in track and field, winning various awards.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for four years before being honorably discharged. He worked various administrative jobs and was an avid reader. His intellectual pursuits also led him to take some courses at Laney College in Oakland, CA. He lived in Carmichael, CA the last 12 years of his life and enjoyed spending time with close friends, watching his favorite team, the San Francisco 49ers, play on tv, spending time with his grandsons, and talking to his five daughters and son.

He was preceded in death by his mother Viola, his father M.J., and his brother Hershel. He is survived by his son Bernard, his five daughters Erika, Nicole, Kelly, Monica, and Tianna, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

In appreciation of his military service, Pete is scheduled to be interred at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery on October 16, 2017. Sierra View Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
