Charles (Chuck) Norman Burkett, 83, of Dumont, Iowa, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the Sheffield Care Center in Sheffield, Iowa.

He was born on August 2, 1932, in Blairsburg, Iowa to Charles Albert and Bernice Evelyn (Blankship) Burkett.

Chuck graduated from Hansell High School.

In 1950, he joined the Air Force and was in the Korean Conflict.

Chuck was united in marriage to Mary Ann Kriens on June 29, 1954, at the Dumont Reformed Church in Dumont, Iowa.

Chuck and Mary Ann spent 60 years on the family farm north east of Dumont, then in 2014, they moved to their present home in Dumont. He worked for Allison Redi-Mix, Haldon Collins, Larry Adams and then for Rick Collins doing carpenter work. He was very good at woodworking and did a lot on his own for his family and friends.

Chuck enjoyed bowling, being outdoors, being with his family - especially his grandkids, and loved visits from his great grandog Teddy.

Chuck loved sports - softball, football, and basketball, and enjoyed watching his grandchildren's T-ball games.

He leaves to mourn him his wife of 62 years Mary Ann of Dumont, his three sons Norman, Dennis (Diane), and Steven (Patti); his grandchildren Courtney Burkett (Jon Noelting), Luke (Megan) Burkett, Mitch (Emily) Burkett, Tony (Ashley) Burkett, and Tina (Chris) Berends; step-grandchildren Anne (Andrew) Ries, Tabatha (David) Noss, and Dustin Rader; great-grandchildren Tayten Berends and Liam Burkett, and great grandog Teddy.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents and grandson Nathan Burkett.
