Title Firm Officer Dies On NY Trip

John W. Dozier, 62, of 2841 Fairway Drive, president of Columbian Title and Trust Co. and a Topeka realtor for many years, died this morning at a hospital at New York City, where he was attending a real estate convention.

He was born Feb. 21, 1906, in Calloway County, Mo., and lived at Kansas City, Mo. before he came to Topeka April, 1927. At Kansas City he was with the Kansas City Title and Trust Co.
In 1927, the Columbian Title and Trust Co. at Topeka added to its facilitiesa complete and modern title plant of which Mr. Dozier became manager in 1931 (Continued From Page 1)
and he has been president of the company since 1957.

Mr. Dozier was chairman of the Southwest Region of Title Insurance Executives, past president of the Kansas Land Title Assn. and National Chairman of Abstractors' Section of American Land Title Assn. He also serves as a lecturer on land titles at the Washburn University School of Law.
He was a member of Elks Club, the American Legion, Topeka Country Club and the Homebuilders Assn.

He married the former Mabel Meers at Topeka. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his widow, of the home; a son, John W. Dozier, Jr., of Silver Lake; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Marjean Jackson of Lawrence; two brothers, James M. Dozier of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Thomas Dozier of New Bloomfield, Mo.; and three grandchildren.

Service arrangements are pending at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
