Jay David was the son of Ivan John 'Jay' Jr. and June Mary Cobb McFerran Bollinger, brother to Joel, Cheryl, Diane, Phillip, Paul, brother-in-law, father, grandfather, uncle, nephew and friend. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War (1968-70) in Company A 82nd Engineer Battalion at Warner Barracks, Bamberg, Germany. After returning home, he met and married Vicky Lynn Hampton on January 14, 1978 in Kansas City, Wyandotte County, Kansas. They were blessed with one daughter, Samantha LeeAnn. Paternal grandparents were Elmer E. Bollinger and Iva Ann Akers McFerran Bollinger, and the late Ivan John McFerran, Sr. Maternal grandparents were Bryan William Cobb and Mary Veronica Joyce.
