Theresa Rose Schnetz was the daughter of George Schnetz and Eliza Jarboe, who married in Nelson Co., Kentucky, Jan. 7, 1833. Eliza was the daughter of George Jarboe, so noted on the marriage license. George Schnetz owned an iron foundry in Louisville, where his family was enumerated on the 1850 census.

Theresa married Benjamin Franklin McCawley on Nov. 8, 1865, in Clark Co., Indiana. Their eleven children were Elizabeth, George Washington, Florence Eugenia, Sidney Albert, William Howell, John Tilden, Herbert Lawrence, Margaret Edna, Frederick Holman, Myrtle Eloise, and Franklin Holloway McCawley. B.F. McCawley died March 13, 1890.

A passport was issued to Theresa on May 21, 1921. She traveled to Mexico City to join her daughter, Myrtle McCawley Tolin, and was injured after her arrival there. Theresa died Oct. 9, 1921, at 1:15 p.m., of complications of a broken leg.74 years old
