Funeral services for Joann S. Cox, 68, of Lufkin will be held October 1, 2017 in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be held in the Evergreen Memorial Park in Crockett.
Mrs. Cox was born July 30, 1949 in Crockett, Texas to the late Florence Pauline (Bradford) and Johnny Willie Smith, and died Wednesday, September 27, 2017 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Cox had resided in Lufkin and worked in the restaurant business most of her life. She was a loving mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Cox was an excellent cook and enjoyed doting on her family. She was generous and kind, and would give you the shirt off her back. She never met a stranger and was a friend to all. Mrs. Cox enjoyed word puzzles, games that tested her skills, and reading.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Dana Smith, William and Amanda Ashworth; daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and John Paul Reese, Shayna and Oscar Hernandez, Heather and Joe Zahaczewski; numerous grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; stepson, Michael Cox and wife Tina; stepdaughter, Lacrecia Tolbert and husband Joey; sister, Doris Charanza; brother, Billy Morrow; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, George Cox, Jr. in 1996.
