George P. Abston, 79, of Summer Shade, KY, died July 18, 1982 at the Methodist Hospital in Louisville, KY. Funeral services were held July 21, 1982 at 2 p.m. at McMurtrey Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Moody, the minister of Louisville, KY, officiating. Burial was in the Marrowbone Cemetery.

Mr. Abston was born in Cumberland County on Nov. 20, 1902, the son of william and Elizabeth Abston. Mr. Abston lived most of his life in Cumberland County as a farmer. He was married to Madie Anderson on Aug 5, 1923. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Madie Abston; three daughters, Nina Abston of Summer Shade; Ruth F. Cottongim of Oak Park, Mich., and Ruby Seal of Manchester, Tenn.; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Sam Abston of Glasgow, KY.

Pallbearers were Willie Cloyd, Jimmie Carter, Carl Spear, Travis Anderson, Herbert Branham and Carl Spear Jr.

McMurtrey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
