Edward Earl Braxton, 81, passed away Sept. 21, 2017 at The Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice House surrounded by family and friends. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Johnny Bryant officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Braxton was born Oct. 27, 1935 to Stanley Earl and Lossie Mae Braxton. He grew up in Greenville and lived most of his life here. He was a residential building contractor and a Superintendent for 25 years with Ashland Construction. He was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a master mason and member of Crown Point Lodge 708, a member of Sudan Shriners, Past Captain of the Sudan Desert Rats and Sudan Provost Guard. Mr. Braxton was a devoted family man and cherished every moment he spent with his family. He was the best PaPa ever. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and spending time at many ballparks around town watching those he knew, and many he did not, play baseball and softball.
Mr. Braxton is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Braxton; and sister, Nellie Boyd. He is survived by the love of his life of 59 years, Ann Braxton; daughters, Beth Pass and husband Steve, Danette Pugh and husband Stacey; son, Eddie Braxton and friend Laura; grandchildren, Brad Pass and wife Allison, Amy Williams and husband Marc, Colby Pugh and wife Skylar, and Morgan Pugh; great granddaughters, Kinley Sumerlin and Karli Williams; sister, Nancy Taylor and husband Bobby; brother-in-law, Bobby Boyd; and several special nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m.Sunday at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at his home.
