Services for Harold DeWayne Smith, 48, of 172 Cumberland Ave. who died Tuesday in an Asheville hospital, will be held at 2 p. m. Friday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home.
The Revs. Bobby Fox and Enoch Ball will officiate. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carl Pike, Morris Netherton and Vernon, Herman, Elbert and H. B. Smith, Jr.
Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County, a former cab driver, and an Army veteran of World War Two.
Surviving are the widow Rose Monk Smith, two daughters, Misses Hilda of Asheville and Kathy Marie Smith of the home. Three sons, Harold of the U. S. Navy, Jerry of Enka and Andrew Wayne Smith of the home. The parents, Charles and Lassie (Martin) Smith of Asheville; two sisters, Jessie Wild of Kingsport, Tennessee and Mary Wild of Cleveland, Ohio; one brother, Hubert Smith of Asheville; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p. m. Thursday at the funeral home.
