Linda Sharon (Carter) Kimberly departed this world on Friday, June 19, 2015, after undergoing treatment for cancer in the previous weeks. Linda was a devoted and loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend who touched the lives of so many throughout her life.

Linda was born to Emma Jean and Leo Carter on February 19, 1950, in Alva, Oklahoma. She was baptized in the First Church of God in Liberal, Kansas, at the age of 7. Linda attended school in Liberal and graduated from Liberal High School before attending college and studying music at Warner Pacific College and Portland State University in Portland, Oregon. She married Edward Duane Kimberly on Novemeber 7, 1970. He survives. They resided in Portland and started a cleaning company, Kimberly Enterprises, which serviced businesses, churches, and residences. Ed and Linda worked together tirelessly for over 40 years. Linda served as office manager and worked with Ed on many jobs. In later years she worked as a home care provider for the elderly and as a practice patient for a chiropractic college. Linda found a great deal of joy in assisting Ed and serving others throughout her life.

Linda was a wonderful and caring mother to two children, Michelle Danielle Kimberly, 27, and Michael Daniel Kimberly, 26, both of Portland. Nothing pleased her more than spending time with her family and watching them grow and develop. She wanted to be there for Ed, Michelle, and Michael every step of the way.

Linda is also survived by her mother, Emma Jean Stewart, of Liberal, Kansas, and three brothers, Larry Carter and wife Cyndie of Liberal; Lynden Carter and wife Lilia of Udall, Kansas; L. Randy Carter of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; sister-in-law Jeannette Patrick of Natchez, Mississippi; brother-in-law, Jack Kimberly of Portland; sister-in-law, Vickey Kimberly of Forest Grove, Oregon; along with several special nieces and nephews, including Christine Borum of Natchez, Mississippi; Ryan Kimberly of Portland; and Heather Kimberly of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her father, Leo Carter; sister-in-law Carol Grinstead formerly of Oympia, Washington; and brother-in-law Don Kimberly, formerly of Portland.

Linda had a passion for life and the loved ones around her. Her love showed in the way she cared for family and others. From sharing coffee with Ed to sharing dessert with family and friends, to talking laughing and crying during Friday night phone calls with her mom. Linda will be greatly missed by all. May the Lord bless her soul and give comfort to those who remain.
