Peggy Perry Leigh was born in Homer, Louisiana and as the only child of Archie Rowe Perry, a farm manager, and homemaker Orie Wise Perry. Peggy lived a very versatile and interesting life as a child growing up in Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, and finally, the place that was closest to her heart for the rest of her life, Lula, Mississippi.
Peggy was a Valedictorian graduate of Lula-Rich High School where she also excelled as a basketball player under Coach Margie Snipes Caffey. She attended Delta State University and then began her professional life. Peggy held many careers in which she was successful including in agricultural accounting, the transportation industry, and finally in the career that best suited her charismatic, optimistic personality, as a Realtor. With a partner, she began a company with a partner but later in 2002, when her husband Bob Leigh, established Bob Leigh and Associates, Peggy was by his side for each step of the company’s growth and became the company’s well-known Vice President of Marketing. With four offices, Bob Leigh and Associates was the largest real estate company in Northwest Mississippi when it was sold in 2015 to CENTURY 21 Maselle and Associates. Its four Northwest Mississippi offices currently operate under the name CENTURY 21 Bob Leigh and Associates. Peggy continued to serve in the company’s marketing department until her death.
A child of God, Peggy truly exemplified the spirit of Christianity and spent much of her life with loving acts of kindness and charity to those whose path crossed her own. She was never without a smile, an optimistic perspective, or a loving word to lift the spirit who someone who needed to hear it.
Peggy was preceded in death by her father, Archie Rowe Perry, her mother, Orie Wise Perry, a young daughter, Perry Jean Jennings, a husband, Joe Rodgers, and a stepson, David Rodgers. Also preceding Peggy in death was her beloved Yorkshire Terrier, Henry Leigh.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 25 years, Robert (Bob) Leigh, III of Hernando, a daughter, Jennine Jennings Ramage (Bob Smith), a grandson Robert Joseph Ramage (Bethany), a granddaughter, Jenna Renea Ramage, stepdaughters Leigh Ann Funderburk (Ray) Robin Leigh Patterson (Glen), and Christy Leigh Perkins (Steven), and 8 step grandchildren. In 2017, Peggy became a great grandmother to Robert Levi Ramage and he is also her survivor. Peggy also leaves behind two adorable canines, Sara Leigh and Girlie Leigh. Additionally, Peggy is survived by thousands of friends from all parts of the world that she met and whose life she touched through the course of her life. While we are heart-broken over our loss, but we are celebrating that she is back Home with her Lord and has been joyfully rejoined those family members, loved ones and friends who have gone before her.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 21 between 9:30-11:30 am with services at First Presbyterian Church of Hernando located at 1455 McIngvale Road, Hernando, Mississippi. Forest Hill Funeral Home South has charge.
