Arcenio Adán Luján, age 83, a resident of Maestas Canyon, NM, passed away at his home on Thursday, September 14, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Arcenio was preceded in death by his parents, Vivian and Donilia Luján, his parents-in-law, Abedon and María I. Ortiz, his children, Guadalupe, Magdalena, Michael Alan, and Arcenio Luján Jr. and his brothers and sisters, Herman, Rosa, Sam, Socorro, Gilbert, Lorenza and Leo.

Arcenio is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, María Elena of the family home in Maestas Canyon, three daughters, Clara J. Luján Sáiz of Maestas Canyon, María Teresita Luján of Rociada, NM and Aggie Luján of Maestas Canyon, two sons, Patrick Luján and his wife, Clara of Albuquerque, NM and Edward Luján and his companion, Sandra Valdéz of Maestas Canyon, 17 grandchildren, Amanda Luján, Angelica Soares, Jeremiah Luján, Steven Olivas, Michael Grace, Justin Sáiz, Arcenio Luján III, Ashley Domínguez, Hannah Grace, Jessie Marie Sáiz, Dominique Luján, Natasha Garduño, Adrian Santillanes, Esperañza Sáiz, Destenie Luján, Kaitlyn Luján and Wyatt Luján, 14 great-grandchildren, Jovan Luján, Aric Johnson, Isiah Soares, Rico Garduño, Brett Luján, Zariah Soares, Luciana Sánchez, Kayden Luján, Zoey Luján, Graciala Sánchez, Judah Soares ( in vitro), Baby Garduño (in vitro), Michael Grace and D'Kadence Domínguez, his step-mother, Elvira Luján, siblings, Eva Elridge, Isabel Hedrick, Helen Carbon, Estella Luján, Angela Luján, Sam Luján and Juan Luján and other extended family members.

Arcenio was born on August 8, 1934 in Cañon de Manuelitas, NM.

Arcenio enlisted in the United States Army in April of 1953 and was honorably discharged on March of 1958. Arcenio married the love of his life, María Elena Ortiz on November 4, 1961 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and worked as a cement finisher and carpenter for many years. Arcenio loved living the ranch life and working with his cows. Arcenio was a dedicated Catholic to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church as well as a mayordomo at the Santo Niño Catholic Church in Lower Rociada, NM.

Arcenio was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. Arcenio was a very well liked member of his community who loved to joke. Arcenio lived his life to the fullest and will be dearly missed.

All services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Cathoic Church beginning with a rosary on Friday evening, September 22, 2017 beginning at 7:00 p.m.The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning, September 23, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. The interment will follow in the Santo Niño Cemetery in Lower Rociada, NM with the following serving as casket bearers, Justin Saiz, Jeremiah Luján, Michael Grace, A.J. Luján, Steven Olivas and Adrian Santillanes. Honorary bearers will be Frank Ortiz, Silviano Gómez, Wyatt Luján, Joe Vigil, Sam Luján, Lawrence Luján and Dennis Luján.
