Arcenio A. Luján Jr., age 48, a lifetime resident of Rociada, NM, entered into the gates of heaven on May 9, 2014.
Arcenio was a lifetime Catholic and attended Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and the mission church of Santo Niño.
Arcenio was born on October 14, 1965 in Las Vegas, NM to Arcenio A. Luján Sr. and María Elena Ortiz-Luján.
On September 10, 1988 he was united in marriage to Agnes García.
Arcenio graduated from Robertson High School in 1983 and attended Mesalands Community College where he obtained a farrier certificate. Arcenio served from 1983 until 1988 in the 720th Transportation Company of the Army National Guard and Headquarters Starc.
Arcenio loved living the ranch life in Rociada, NM. Arcenio was an experienced hunter, fisherman, rancher, bull rider, outdoors man, farrier and truly a respectable, loving family man. Until approximately 1998, Arcenio was an active and exceptional bull rider who attended and competed in many rodeos and often brought home first place ribbons and prizes.
Arcenio worked at the Hutchison Ranch from 1987 until 2013. Arcenio tended to his animals and took extreme pride in his work. Arcenio welcomed and greeted family, friends, visitors and strangers with a warm heart and open arms.
Arcenio was preceded in death by his grandparents, Abedon and María Ignacia Ortiz and Vivian and Donelia Luján, a brother, Michael Luján, a sister, Guadalupe Luján and his father-in-law, George García.
Arcenio is survived by his wife of 25 years, Agnes Luján of the family home in Rociada, NM, one son, Arcenio Luján III and one daughter, Natasha Luján both of Rociada, NM, his parents, Arcenio Luján Sr. and María Elena Luján of Rociada, NM, two sisters, Clara Luján-Sáiz and her husband, Henry of Rociada, NM and María Teresita Grace and her husband, Michael of Cleveland, NM, two brothers, Patrick Luján and his wife, Carla of Albuquerque, NM and Edward Luján and his companion, Sandra of Rociada, NM, his mother-in-law, Pearl García of Guadalupita, NM, four brothers-in-law, George (Janet) García of Albuquerque, NM, Clarence García of Guadalupita, NM, Jake (Leena) García of San Antonio, TX and Carlos (Bonnie) García of Denver, CO, five sisters-in-law, Rita García and her companion, Fred Márquez of Las Vegas, NM, Delma (Elias) Grine of Eagle Nest, NM, Darlene (Eddie) Trujillo and Merlene (John) Casados all of Albuquerque, NM and Lynn (Antonio) Padilla of Las Vegas, NM and by numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2014 in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzáles Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church with a rosary on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:00 a.m. Fidel Trujillo will deliver the eulogy. The interment will follow in the Santo Niño Cemetery in Lower Rociada, NM. Serving as casket bearers will be Jeremiah Luján, Frankie García, Johnny Ortiz, John Summers, Joe Vigil, Michael Grace Jr., Johnny Ray García Abeyta and Geno García. Honorary bearers will be Antonio Padilla, Leonard Lucero, Michael Ortiz, Jonathan Casados, J.R. García, Wyatt Luján, Michael Griego, Brooklyn Aragón, Jaylynn Aragón, Tristen Aragón, Justin Sáiz and by several godchildren and the rest of his nephews and nieces.
