Roy P. "Pat" Shaffer, 91, died Sunday, September 17, 2017, at The Brethren Home Community.

He was the husband of Ethel M. (Gruver) Shaffer, his wife of 67 years, who died June 12, 2010.

Pat was born March 17, 1926, in Orrtanna, the son of the late Martin L. and Carrie A. (Singley) Shaffer

Pat served as a rifleman in the U.S. Army during WWII, with Company F, 311th Infantry, and was employed for 45 years at Frank A. Duffs in York. He was a life member of Paradise "Holtzschwamm" Lutheran Church in Thomasville, the East Berlin V.F.W., Richard J. Gross Post #8896, and Liberty Fire Company #1 in East Berlin.

Pat is survived by son, Roy Laverne Shaffer and wife, Donna of East Berlin; daughter, Darlene M. Sanders and husband, Richard of East Berlin, five granddaughters, Christine Sherman and husband, Travis, Tina Hausner and husband, JP, Amy Kennedy, Angie Cheek and husband, Nathan, and Michele Becker and husband, Eric; four great grandchildren, Ryan Becker, Adam Becker, Zane Hausner and Tara Hausner; and brother, Kenneth Shaffer of Spring Grove. He was predeceased by son, Ronald D. Shaffer; four brothers, Elmer, Luther, Raymond and Ivan Shaffer; and three sisters, Dorothy Shaffer, Ethel Kepner and Helen Signor Henley.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 11 a.m., at Paradise "Holtzschwamm" Lutheran Church, 3241 Church Rd, Thomasville, with the Rev. Douglas Johnson officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the church, or to VNA/Hospice, 440 N. Madison St, Hanover, PA 17331. Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 306 Harrisburg St, East Berlin, is in charge of arrangements.
