He was born January 25, 1923 in Saginaw, Michigan the son of Elmer and Hilda Baker.
Besides his parents Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Fern Baker; a brother, Robert Baker; and sister, June Baker.
He is survived by four children, Connie (Stan) Pennington, Tim (Denise Guardino) Baker, Steve (Pamela) Baker and Kurt (Denise) Baker; his grandchildren, Pam (Les) Majewski, Kristy (Mike) Stoffer, Barb (Rick) Outinen, Beth (Scott) Stauffer, Allen (Kristen) Schinkel, Lauren Baker, Jonathan Baker, Allison Baker, Brooke Baker and Cara Baker; as well as nine great grandchildren.
Ray served in the US Army during WW II and was stationed in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe and the Ardennes. He enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting and being with his family.
A celebration of Ray's life will take place Wednesday, September 20, 2017 beginning with a visitation at 10:00 AM and concluding with a Funeral Service at 12:00 Noon at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2107 Three Oaks Rd., Cary with burial and military honors to follow at Windridge Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated to 15, 2017 at JouneyCare of Barrington. The Alzheimer Care Foundation.
