Daughter of Robert Boyd, wright (i.e. builder), guild brother and burgess of the burgh of Rothesay, and his second or third wife Agnes McGilchattan or McIntosh. She married Allan Gilkerson/Gilchrist, of the same profession, in 1805, and had 10 children. She died of cancer at the age of 85 and is buried with her husband and children who died in infancy in what was her parents' grave plot.
