Sidecar passenger to Swiss sidecar racer Florian Camathias. Born in Singen/Hohentwiel, Germany. He began his sidecar racing career at the age of seventeen, racing with Fritz Mader. In 1956 he started his international career with Edgar Strub. In 1958 he partnered Camathias and they achieved 2nd place in the 1958 and 1959 World Sidecar Championships. In 1960 Cecco returned to Strub but returned to Camathias in 1961. Killed during non-championship race in Modena, Italy, when Camathias' BMW outfit ran wide at the final bend and the sidecar left the circuit and somersaulted. They had been leading the race and were on their 25th and last lap. Both were taken to the Policlinico Hospital and Cecco died the following day from severe head injuries. Camathias was also injured and made a full recovery. After fifty years, as is the custom in some European countries, the headstone was removed.
