Linal E. Copeland, 71, died in Peru, Miami County, Indiana on Aust 21, 1974 at 5:50 p.m. at Dukes Hospital in Peru, Indiana from metastatic carcinoma of the lung (lung cancer). He had been ill nine months.

A retired employee of the Square D. Company, he was a member of the Nazarene Church.

He was born May 5, 1903 in Dora, Wabash County, Indiana to Johnathan Martin Copeland and Martha Ann Botkins Copeland.

He married Erba May Townsend in 1924 at the age of 21. To this union, they had seven children: Leon Eldon Copeland, Rosalie Copeland, Lois Copeland, Alice Copeland, Wilma Copeland, Beatrice Copeland, and Mitchell Jay Copeland.

Erba Townsend, his wife, survives. Other survivors are two sons, Leon, Peru, and Mitchell, Galveston; five daughters, Rosalie Galbraith and Alice Ashlock, both of Peru, Lois Clayton of Huntington; Wilma Yarbrough of Bluffton ad Mrs. Robert Dillman, Churubusco; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home tonight.
