Jonathan L. Clark was born to Lewis Clark & Leandra Lambert-Clark ( her father was Jonathan Lambert ) in Macarther,Vinton Co.,Ohio. Siblings were Bennett McFarland, Ervin, Sarah S., George Washington, and Wrily Clark. He married Phinetta ? ( Ohio ), and children were Frank O., Homer L., Cassius C. & Nettie. He moved to Portland,OR. a year before he died. Jonathan fought in the Civil War like his brothers, except Wrily who died at age 12. Jonathan served the Ohio 18th Infantry Reg. Co. D, then transferred to Ohio 26th Batt. ( Vinton County,OH. ).

Enlisted as a Corporal (date unknown).
