Edith “Irene” Cossairt, 78, of Dixon, died Monday, September 11, 2017, at Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon.
Irene was born December 3, 1938, in Columbus, KS, the daughter of Leonard Richard and Edith Edna (Coble) Jarrett.
She married Earnest Cossairt on November 15, 1956. Irene enjoyed mowing her yard, had a passion for animals, but most of all loved being a wife and best friend to her husband.
She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Earnest “Ray” Cossairt of Dixon; two daughters, Vickie (Robert) Yearian of Walnut; Debbie (William) Alvine of Longwood, FL; one son, Michael R. Cossairt of Rossville, GA; three brothers, Leonard (Avis) Jarrett of Charles City, IA, Lloyd Richard (Connie) Jarrett of Clinton, IA, and Leroy Ralph (May) Jarrett of Camanche, IA; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Larry Jarrett.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m., until time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Northside Baptist Church in Dixon, with the Rev. Daniel Bentz, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be at Park Cemetery in Columbus, KS, at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, September 19, 2017.
Local arrangements are being completed by Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, Columbus, KS.
