Lucinda Garcia peacefully joined our Lord on September 11, 2017 at the age of 94 at Mary's Residential Care Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Lucinda the daughter of Fidela de los Santos and Primitivo Garcia went to Brownsville High School. She earned a BS degree in Education from Pan American College.

She began her career working as a secretary for Pan American Airways. When Pan American Airways closed its doors in Brownsville, Lucinda went to work for E. de la Garza Wholesale Grocers. While working with E. de la Garza Lucinda entered Pan American College in Edinburg. Upon graduation, she began her teaching career with the Brownsville ISD. She retired from teaching after 35 years of service.

Lucinda was a loving a daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family. Lucinda was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known her.

Lucinda was preceded in death by her parents, Fidela and Primitivo; and her siblings: Fidela Champion, Concepcion de la Rosa, Alberto Garcia, and Primitivo Garcia Jr., and Guadalupe Garcia.

Lucinda is survived by nieces: Yolanda Champion (Carlos) Mora, Mary Alice (Hector) Cardenas, Gracie (Louis Wages) de la Rosa, Eloisa de la Rosa, Norma (Jeff) Hoffman, Omadee (Herman+) Fairchild, Irma Rios, Anna Maria (Michael) Ward and nephews: A. J. (Julie) Champion, Rodolfo de la Rosa, Jose Guadalupe (Velma) Garcia, Primitivo Garcia, Ernesto (Maria Luisa) de la Rosa, Jose Luis Garcia as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews along with extended family members.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. A rosary service will be held at 9:30 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Drive followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m.
Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Blvd. Lucinda's nephews are honored to be serving as her pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lucinda's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, San Antonio & South Texas Chapter, MAC 37 Building, 10223 McAllister Freeway, Ste. 100, San Antonio, TX 78216 and www.alz.org.
