Joe S. Watson, age 80, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.

Joe was born on September 24, 1936 in Emmett, Arkansas. He graduated from Emmett High School in 1955. Joe served in the US Army from 1955-1957 as a specialist 3rd class in the 5th Field Artillery 1st Infantry Division and was also a boxer while in the armed forces.
He worked at Alexandria Light and Power as a linesman and then a meter foreman for 30 plus years. And worked at the Chapel Trafton School/Dunham School for a number of years and was a water patrol deputy for Rapides Sheriff's Office. Joe was an avid LSU and New Orleans Saints fan.

Joe is survived by his sister, Linda Sue Worthy; his son, Christopher Watson; his daughter, Mary Ann Watson; his fiancée, Gerri Blazek; his grandchildren, Rosemary Watson, Paige Watson and Isabella Watson; his daughter-in-law, Pascale Watson; his nephew, Danny Watson; his nieces, Judy Phillips and Jo Ann Land; and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.

He is preceded in death by his wife, June Spurlock Watson; his parents, J.M. Watson and Vinnie Gaines Watson; his brothers, John Watson and Travis Watson; and his sister, Marlene Watson Minihan.

Joe was a very kind and caring man who was always there for his family. He will be sorely missed by everyone whose lives were made better by his presence and love.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 10:00am until service at 11:30am. Burial to follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
