Anna was born to Fredrieck and Adelheide (Linde) Grothmann in Massac Co., IL. At the age of 15, her mother, 2 brothers and sister moved to Nebraska. Her father and a sister had passed away before moving. Anna, her mother and sister arrived by train in Vanango, NE on March 7, 1893, where they met her brothers, August and Ben, who had established a home on a farm 5 miles southwest of Vanango.
Anna completed her education through the eighth grade and earned a teachers' certificate. She taught rural schools in Perkins Co. for 4 years, then became Deputy County Clerk until her marriage to Albert Bloomfield in 1906. They made their home in Minden, NE. In 1936, her husband passed away. In 1950, her sister, Emma Danz, came from Muscatine, Ia to make her home with Anna and care for her invalid brother, Ben.
The sisters, having no children of their own, enjoyed each others company for twenty-four years. Later, both sisters moved to the Long Term Care in Minden, where Emma continued to watch over Anna, since Anna was almost blind. Each devoted themselves to each other.
