Janetta Ann (McBride) Ferrin was born in Churchtown, North Meoles parish, Lancaster, England. Her family were the among the Martin & Taylor Handcart Company victims, and her father, Robert McBride, was lost at Rock Creek Hollow, the upper crossing of the Platte River, now Natrona Co., Wyoming, on 20 October 1856. With her mother, Margaret Ann (Howard) McBride, seriously ill, it was Janetta who got the remainder of the family to Salt Lake City.

Her mother Margaret married Samuel Ferrin after she recovered. He was the father of Janetta's future husband, Jacob Samuel Ferrin. This made her mother, her mother-in-law! In 1881, the Ferrin clan moved from Utah to Arizona.

Janetta is my 2nd great grandmother, and I am very proud of her.
Grace (Cronin) Schmitt, 47044232.
