Josephine "Joyce" Bender, 95, formerly of 322 W. Penn St., Shenandoah, and Seton Manor, died Sunday at Pottsville Hospital.
Born in Shenandoah, May 13, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Stackowski and Dominecella Katulis.
She was employed in the garment industry.
She was of the Roman Catholic faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 1990; brothers, Stephen and Joseph Stackowski; and sisters, Helen Kacelowicz, Frances Bikowsky and Eleanor Guidett.
Surviving are a brother, John Stackowski, Connecticut; nieces and nephews and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc., Shenandoah. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Annunciation BVM Church, Shenandoah. Interment will be held in Old St. Casimir Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 8 a.m. Thursday until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
