His first wife was Margaret Mariel Childers of Greenville. They had 2 sons Danny & Donnie Bowen. Margaret remarried Chauncey Ray "Bob" Moog, they had 1 daughter Camilla.
Ed remarried Grace Emory McCoig, they had 4 daughters Elaine, Janice, Becky, and Annette. Both families loved one another and remained close friends. Beckys daughter was named after Margaret with middle name "Mariel", her 1st son was named after Bob with middle name "Ray".

Walton Beach Fla., and Leon McCoig of Greenville; a stepdaughter, Mrs Kay M. Westbrook of Greenville; his stepfather Holman Cheek of Greenville; two sisters Mrs Ruby B. Young and Mrs Lorene B. Nelson of Greenville; two brothers, Billy Bowen of Mauldin and Cecil Bowen of Woodruff; and 12 grandchildren.
