He was born in Shiloh, PA and was a proud Marine having served 6 years during WWII and Korea. He was a member and Chaplain of the Lake County Honor Guard and also handled their books. He was a member of the Marine Corps League as well. Bill was a CPA for 60 years and called Bingo for St. Timothy Catholic Church.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Mary Regina (Jean) Welker and his son, William J. Welker II. Survivors include his daughters: Jeannine Marie Smith (Calif.); Betty Ann Scarberry (Ohio); Debbie Theresa Smith (Ohio); Susan Kay Posten (Marathon/Keys, FL); Mary Beth Welker (Fruitland Park, FL); Sister Patricia Hutchings (PA); 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
A Gathering was held at the Lady Lake Chapel of Beyers Funeral Home on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Timothy Catholic Church on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. Interment was in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL with full military honors provided by the Lake County Honor Guard.
