MARGERY ANDERSON Merrillville/Claremont, NH A long time Merrillville resident passed away Friday, May 13, 2005 in Claremont, New Hampshire, where she lived with her son, David, for the last four years. Margery graduated from Calumet High School and the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. After graduation Margery worked in local hospitals as a pediatric nurse, and worked with many of Gary's local medical practices. Margery spent the majority of her career working as a county school nurse in many Lake County schools. She ended her career as a school nurse in the Munster School System. Even after her retirement, she was always available to care for family, neighbors and friends. Margery's favorite hobby was decorating her home which her husband Andy built shortly after the war. She was an avid collector of fine china and saucers, decorator plates and Swarovski crystal figurines. Margery and her family were avid fishermen taking frequent trips to Wisconsin, Michigan, Canada and Florida. Inevitably, Margery seemed to always catch the biggest fish of the trip or so she told us. Margery and Andy were involved with the Merrillville School System. They ran the first campaign to establish a school board for the management of the school. Merrillville teachers were frequent visitors at the Anderson's house. Margery's greatest joy occurred when she became a grandmother and Kate came into her life. I am not sure any child was spoiled more. Margery felt it was a God-given right for grandparents to spoil their grandkids. Margery was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Anderson; brother, Bud Simpson; sister, Jayne Bailey; daughter-in-law, Polly Anderson. She is survived by her loving son, David and granddaughter and greatest joy, Kate Anderson. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, May 22, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Geisen Funeral Home, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville, with Pastor G. Thomas Jones officiating. The family asks that flowers be omitted, but that a donation to your favorite charity be made in Margery's name.
