Northwest Indiana Genealogical Society is an active society that is committed to preserving the history of Lake and Porter Counties in Indiana. We collect, preserve and disseminate knowledge and information with reference to genealogy, history, biography and heraldry.

We would like to thank the many volunteers that are helping us in preserving the history of our communities.

Please use the edit button for any correction that you would like to make.

We will not add any obituaries to a memorial, per FAG rules. We will add the paper name, date and page only.

As for transfer please read the FAG rules. We would like to see that the nearest relative maintain the memorial, per FAG rules. Transfer can only be done once. To do a transfer we need your members number and the number of the memorial to make that transfer.

We are not able to go out to the cemeteries to get pictures of the stones. We are using our indexes that were done many years ago to add these memorials.

We are a volunteers, and we all hold down full time jobs.

Thank you for being patient with us. We have at least 365,000 memorials in Lake and Porter counties, to add.
