Gideon P. SMALLWOOD died at his home in Creek township, on last Wednesday,
in the 53d year of his age. He was born near Decatur on the 16th of May,
1833, and came to this county more than thirty years ago and settled in
Creek township. He was the youngest member of the Smallwood Family. He was
a farmer and stock raiser and has been successful in his calling. Mr.
Smallwood was a kind father and husband and a generous neighbor, who was
ever ready to lend a helping hand.
