ANSON - Shirley Emma Leeman, 79, passed away on Sept. 2, 2017. Shirley was born on June 20, 1938, in Anson, the daughter of Howard and Edith (Fish) Jackson. Shirley attended Garrett Schenck Elementary School and graduated from Madison Memorial High School, Class of 1956.

Shirley married Robert Leeman on April 11, 1958, in North Anson, and built a life together in Anson. She devoted her life to raising their four children.

Shirley will be remembered as a caring and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Shirley was known for her impeccable flower gardens, baking her special coffee bars, and her quick wit. She enjoyed crocheting gifts for her loved ones.

Shirley was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Northern New England.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Robert Leeman; her parents and her siblings, Christine, Gilbert, and Howard.

Shirley is survived by her four children, Carol Haulk, Diane Leeman, Steven Leeman and Richard Leeman, and their spouses. She also leaves behind grandchildren, Nathaniel Phillips; Amanda Chick; Holly Pond; and Josh, Chad, and MaKayla Leeman; many great-grandchildren, and beloved nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at the Athearn Cemetery, Route 43, Anson, with the Rev. Dr. Nathaniel Phillips officiating. (Central Maine Newspapers 9/6/2017)
