Julia was actually born in the village of Rát, Uzh County, Subcarpathian Rus', Austria-Hungary (Present day Ukraine). After WW I Subcarpathian Rus' was made part of Czechoslovakia and was called Subcarpathia. After WW II the regions was is was annexed into the Ukraine by the Soviet Union and called Transcarpathia Oblast or Zakarpats'ka Oblast'. Julia's surname evolved, for various reasons, from Brenzovics (immigration docutments) to Branzovic (1910 census), to Bransotich (1920 census) to Branshwich (1930 census) to the current spelling of Branswich. Her husband Alex's obituary starts with "Alex (Branswich) Brenzovich, 89,...".
