Douglas was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed! He loved watching Tar Heel sports and going to watch Ashbrook High School football games. He was a fan of George Jones and enjoyed his trips to the flea market and talking to old friends. He worked at Pharr Yarns most of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Vickie Wenzel Atkins; sons, Doug, Michael, Scott and Perves Atkins; grandchildren, Sierra A. Jennings, Brittany Farrar, Chris Atkins, Tiffany McConnell, Jennifer Kirkman and Cheyenne Hoffman; great-grandchildren, Maddox, Emalyn and Kellan Jennings, Dylan and Tyler Atkins.
