Obituary for Margaret Schott

Margaret Schott (Pratt)
Passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s General Hospital in Kitchener on January 26, 2013. She will be fondly remembered by Clare, her husband for almost 67 years; her children Greg (Linda), Rob (Judith) and Larry (Susan); her grandchildren Ben (Melissa) Yu Schott, Kendra (Jim) Baillie, Rachel and Jason; and her great-grandchildren Callie, Theodore and James. She was predeceased by her brothers Bill (Betty) Pratt and Alex (Helen) Pratt.
Margaret was born in Kitchener in 1924, after her parents William Joss Pratt and Maggie Bella Mackie emigrated from Scotland. She had a quick mind and she demonstrated a knack with numbers in her role as the payroll clerk at Ball Brothers Construction. As secretary-treasurer, she provided administrative and bookkeeping support to Clare at Parkway Manufacturing Limited, which they owned and operated for almost 30 years until selling it and retiring in 1993. From modest beginnings, Margaret and Clare worked very hard to achieve the success which enabled them to enjoy a comfortable life. Family vacations progressed from camping to boating to their cottage on Gloucester Pool and finally to world travel, the highlight of which was a trip to Singapore in 1987 for Rob and Judith’s wedding. She also enjoyed bowling, knitting, reading and music.
Margaret will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A private family celebration of her life will be held in the Chapel at Emmanuel Village Retirement Home. Cremation has taken place.
In memoriam, donations may be made to the Television Ministry of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Kitchener at www.standrewskw.com or by calling Henry Walser Funeral Home (519-749-8467) or by visiting www.henrywalser.com.
