Sara Dawkins Baynard, a life-long resident of Easton, died peacefully on August 29, 2017 at Talbot Hospice House. She was 100 years of age.
Prior to moving to Hospice House in early August 2017, she lived for six years at Heartfields of Easton. She was loved by the caring staff at these homes, who commented on her warm smile and benevolent demeanor.
Born in Talbot County on April 15, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Edward R. and Lillie M. Leaverton Dawkins.
She graduated from Easton High School in 1934 and married her late husband, John T. Baynard in 1940. With her husband, she owned and operated a children’s clothing shop in Easton for a number of years and later she worked for Hess Apparel.
She is a member of the St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Easton.
She is survived by a daughter, Lili Kay Callowhill of Annapolis, MD, a son, John T. Baynard, Jr. of Savannah, GA, five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 11 AM at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 100 Peachblossom Rd., Easton, where friends may call one hour prior from 10 AM – 11 AM at the church.
Burial will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery in Easton.
