Barbados native Ann Walker was twice married, her first husband being Bridgtown, Barbados planter and merchant George Barrow Haynes (1796-1825), a son of House Speaker Robert Haynes and his wife, Anne Thomasine Clarke. Based in Bridgtown, George Haynes formed a business partnership with Liverpool businessman Thomas Lee. He sailed for Liverpool aboard the ship Martha, leaving Bridgtown 23 August 1825, and was lost at sea. Ann Walker Haynes filed probate papers on her missing husband a year later, in July, 1826. Her second husband was U.K. businessman George Frederick Shepherd. She was widowed for a second time by 1851 and at her death in 1876, age 81, she was residing with her former sister-in-law, Thomasine Haynes Lardy, at Clifton near Bristol.

Memorials for the Haynes and Lardy families no longer exist in the St. John Evangelist churchyard, which is now a paved parking lot, but following is an early 20th Century transcription of what was already at that date a deteriorated memorial:
a) "Lt. Col. Christian Frederick Lardy of West Clifton House; died 21:1:1856, age 61 (?) years."
b) "Thomasine Lardy, wife of the above. Born 5:2:17__, Died __:4:187_ [sic]."
c) Ann Walker Shepherd, Died __:8:1876, age 81 years."
